Weekly Wrap-Up

2010-11 Winter Ball Hockey

The Winter Ball Hockey season will begin play on Sunday October 17th, 2010.
Here is a list of what the league will be offering to this year’s participants:
16 game regular season
3 men's divisions (Casual C, Recreation B and Competitive A) - Subject to change.
1 Coed Division (split into 2 divisions for playoffs)
Playoffs for those who qualify.
1 or 2 games a week, almost always on Sunday's. (There may be a few Saturday afternoon/evening games)
All Games are at the River Osbourne CC (101 Pembina Hwy)
1 Qualified Referee and 1 timekeeper at every game.
Weekly statistical updates and league info
Player of the week awards.
Prizes and awards for all division champions.

Basic Rules:
Here is a sample of the basic rules you can expect:
Games are split in to two 20-minute halves; the last minute of the game is stop time.
Men's - There are 3 players and a goalie on the floor at one time.
Coed - There are 4 players and a goalie on the floor at one time. (2 males & 2 females)
All teams must have the same colored jerseys, permanently numbered on the back (between 0 and 99)
There is a 3 second in the key rule
There shall be no body checking allowed.
All minor penalties shall be 2 Minutes, and Majors 5 Minutes.
Fighting or any intent to injure infractions will be subject to a lengthy suspension and a costly team fine.
All players must play in a minimum of 6 regular season games to qualify for playoffs.(4 for coed females)
The maximum roster size allowed is 10 players for men's and 13 for coed.

The cost to enter a team is $850.00. Please send your $250.00 Team deposit or $100.00 individual deposit made payable to Manitoba Ball Hockey Association, and send it to.
