Weekly Wrap-Up

2008-09 Ball Hockey Season
The Winnipeg Winter 2008-2009 Ball Hockey season will begin play on October 19th, 2008.
Here is a list of what the league will be offering to this year’s participants:

16 game season
Playoffs for those who qualify.
1 or 2 games a week, almost always on Sundays. (except during Christmas)
Games are at the River Osborne C.C. It has a canteen and a TV for watching football.
1 Qualified Referee and 1 timekeeper at every game. ( 2 refs for the Playoffs)
Canadian Ball Hockey Association rules and regulations (exclusive to MBHA).
Weekly statistical updates and league info on our award-winning Web site.
Player of the week awards.
Prizes and awards for all division champions.

Levels of Play Offered:

Here are the scheduled divisions
Two competitive Men’s divisions, Men’s A and B, both are 3 on 3.
A Co-ed Division which is 4 on 4. There must be 2 girls on the floor at all times.
Due to space limitations, only the first 20 Teams to register with the MBHA will be accepted for the 2008-2009 season.

Basic Rules:

Here is a sample of the basic rules you can expect.
Games are split in to two 20-minute halves; the last minute of the game is stop time.
There are 3 players and a goalie on the rink at one time. (4 on 4 for co-ed)
All teams must have the same colored jerseys, permanently numbered on the back (between 0 and 99)
There is a 3 second in the key rule.
There shall be no body checking allowed.
All minor penalties shall be 2 Minutes, and Majors 5 Minutes.
Fighting or any intent to injure infractions will be subject to a lengthy suspension and a costly team fine.
All players must play in a minimum of 6 regular season games to qualify for playoffs.
Most teams carry a 10-player roster, the maximum roster size allowed is 13 players.

How to Register:

To register your team, just provide us with your team name,division of choice and 2 team contacts, then mail it into the address listed, along with your $200 deposit.
The DEADLINE to register is October 10th.

Save $50.00. The cost of the league is $750.00, if you pay in FULL by your 1st game.

That is your $200 deposit, and then $550 due at your 1st game.

Or if you choose to participate in our flexible payment plan option the total Team cost is $800.00.

$200 before game # 5
$100 before game # 8
